Sol Plaatje Residence, established in 2014, is more than just a place to stay; it's a home away from home. Fondly referred to as the "House of Responsible Minds," our residence is dedicated to fostering a supportive environment where students can thrive academically and personally.
Located within the Sanlam Student Village, our ultra-modern facility accommodates 312 senior students of all genders. Our rooms are designed to provide comfort and convenience, with each single and spacious room equipped with Wi-Fi, mattress and base sets, a built-in cupboard, desk, bookshelf, chair, study lamp, and modern plugs to cater to your electronic needs. Our accommodation options include flat lets of two, three, and four, with shared kitchen, bathroom, and a compact lounge.
Our kitchens are well-equipped with a mid-sized fridge, two-plate hob, and microwave. Additionally, each floor features common facilities such as a Group Study Room, Lounge with LED TV, and complimentary laundry services. For your convenience, all blocks are fitted with modern TV rooms, study areas, and free laundry facilities. Our 24/7 computer lab, equipped with twenty-four i8 Desktop Computers and a color printer, allows you to print from the comfort of your room.
We take pride in being environmentally conscious, with "smart" buildings that feature sensor-controlled lights. Furthermore, our residence offers fully accessible units reserved for individuals with mobility impairments, and all four floors are serviced by elevators.
Strategically situated between the North and South campuses, within walking distance of 1km, and surrounded by two comprehensive shopping centers within 3km, transportation options are plentiful. Additionally, a short 10-minute walk will take you to the beautiful rejuvenating beachfront.
